ALLERGIES TO DOGS

Allergies to dogs causing turmoil in your home and you don't even own a dog?   Your child has been begging you forever for a dog.  Whining, pleading and making deals to be really, really, really good if only you will get them a best canine friend.
Your child is responsible, a good kid and you like dogs, so there is really no good reason to say no.  Except for the fact that he is allergic to dogs!  Well, there could still be hope.

Children and dogs go together so well that it just does not seem right to deprive your child of the opportunity to grow up with a faithful canine companion by his side.  While some kids have allergies to dogs so severe that the possibiliy of dog ownership is out of the question, many kids can have a dog if you take some time to choose the right hypo allergenic dog breed.

Keep in mind that even non allergy dogs can cause problems for some children.  Once you have narrowed down your choices of breeds of dogs that are hypoallergenic, you are ready to prceed to the next step.

Make arrangements to visit breeders of the types of dogs you are interested in.  Have your child spend some time with the dogs to see if there is a reaction.  Even better, if you know of someone with one of the hypoallergenic dog breeds, ask if they will bring the dog to your home for a visit with your child.  

This is a bit of an over-statement.  It is impossible to completely eliminate all dog allergens from your home.  However, there are steps to take that will help to remove many of the dog allergy problems.  Learn how to  select the right furnishings, clean your home and groom your dog, all with the goal of keeping your home safer for children with allergies to dogs.
